The Choice is yours!
Hello everyone! Hope you all are doing good. I really wanted to talk about the factor which affects every single moment of our life and moulds it- DECISIONS. You might be thinking this 20 year old must be taking decisions which would be messing up her life. Well yes, my life has been a roller coaster ride and will remain like that (cause, what's fun without adventure?!). So today, I would be learning, growing and getting better with you all.
Most of us spend time to find out ways to please others, trying to get ourselves in their good books even if it's not by being ourselves. Even if you manage to achieve that position in someone else's life, you know deep in your heart that this is not how you want to be. You don't get the satisfaction of being you. So, let us be a bit selfish and make ourselves a priority in our lives. Let's make decisions that put us at peace with ourselves even if we don't remain in people's good books because at the end of the day it's you who will always stay with you.
The ability of decision making is a skill that can be mastered by following these steps:-
1. ASK: When you have a situation in front of you, always be clear about what the situation exactly is. Take your time and ask yourself if you really understood the situation or not and once you are clear with that, then move forward.
2. ACQUIRE: Search for information or people that can help you take this decision. Always be careful of what you gather and with whom you share your thoughts with. Ask for advise to people who genuinely care about you want and want the best for you.
3. ANALYZE: Once you have the complete idea about the situation, have listened to all the advices and read all the information required, sit with an unbiased mind and take a look at all the possibilities of the outcome. Never miss out on this step because this step is very crucial. Your entire decision depends on this step.
4. APPLY: After making a choice, it's time to apply it. It's time implement the decision. Have faith in yourself and take the leap. I know sometimes it feels scary but it is what you have chosen. It is what you want for yourself. A lot of times people (including me) have the tendency of backing off or, to make it even worse, change their decision at the last moment. Please, do not do that. If you have invested so much time in taking a decision, just apply it. It maybe a wrong one; but at least you won't keep wondering or regretting about the "What ifs?". So please trust yourself and be courageous enough to take your own decisions.
5. ASSESS: After you have finally seen the outcomes of your decision, be it good or bad, assess them. Monitor the outcomes each time you make a decision. This way you will learn a lot about yourself as well as about the different situations you come across in your life. Never feel like you lost everything when the outcome is bad. Instead, be happy that you got something to learn out of it and that's how you learn your life lessons.
Now, I hope we will try to implement these steps in our lives each time we have to take a decision. I will be looking forward to make better decisions, learn from them and grow with nothing but positivity and peace.
